Future Writers!!!

Hello there!

We would like to know if there are any students interested in becoming writers or interested in learning the different careers available to writers. This opportunity is for high school students (grades 9-12). Students will be taken on a trip to SONY STUDIOS where they will watch a film and hear the elements needed to become a writer.

Let me know if you want to go.

Science Festival

The Science Festival was one of our many ways of celebrating Earth Day. We went to Agoura Hills to learn about several plants that live in Mediterranean climates. We also learned the different type of uses these plants serve to animals, humans, and to earth. Students were involved in the lesson by asking questions and taking notes. We participated in a scavenger hunt to learn quirky things about animals that live in the wild. Many live animals were on display, allowing the children to touch them. Finally we closed our day with a spider hunt. We caught spiders from under rocks, tall grass, and off trees to help collaborate in scientists' studies. If the spider was new, they would be named after us.

University of New Hampshire Students Visit

A BIG THANK YOU to all the UNH students who came by to visit us, played with the students, and celebrated Brandon's birthday. They had basketball competitions and helped out with homework. We are very grateful for meeting this group and thankful for Michelle making this happen.

The Blazers Learning Center will be taking several trips in March and April.

This past Sunday, March 14, the students went to the World Water Day held at the Natural History Museum. There were booths and activities that promoted the the protection of L.A.'s water resources. Children danced and played instruments and were admitted into the Museum.

On March 21, the children will attend a free cultural workshop at the Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center, Celebrating the Spring Equinox.

Interested in Science???
We are! That is why, on April 17, we will attend the 1st Annual Science Festival in Agoura Hills.

Stay tuned!
